I prepare detailed reports, and provide deposition and testimony support. I analyze and model contamination in water, soil, sediment, and rock to identify sources, establish causation and apportionment, and assess environmental risk. I expose flaws in outdated conceptual models, reducing remediation costs, decreasing liabilities, and strengthening legal outcomes in an objective manner for defendants and plaintiffs alike.
Forensic Hydrogeology
Forensic hydrogeology identifies contaminant release points and histories, tracks migration through groundwater, soil, sediment, and rock, and assesses resulting risks to human health and the environment. It forms the basis of remediation and litigation strategy, and requires evaluation of data outliers, often dismissed but rich with clues. My work includes comprehensive analysis and clear communication of complex conditions.
SITE ASSESSMENT & CHARACTERIZATION
I integrate hydrogeologic and historical data with contaminant fate and transport evaluation to develop conceptual site models (CSMs) that clarify complex contamination scenarios. Depth of analysis and clarity of results are core values. My work also includes independent review of environmental reports and scopes of work, helping to focus on essential needs to reduce costs and strengthen technical and legal positioning.
CONTAMINANT FATE & TRANSPORT
Understanding how contaminants move through the environment is critical for effective site management. I analyze contaminant fate and transport processes for a wide range of pollutants, including PFAS, chlorinated solvents, benzene, metals, and various other chemicals. My expertise in groundwater flow and contaminant transport modeling is an essential element of Forensic Hydrogeology, and it also supports remedial design, evaluation of natural attenuation processes, and to assess and optimize groundwater treatment systems.
UNIQUE METHODS
Environmental investigations often produce fragmented, underused data. Without proper synthesis, this leads to uncertainty, inefficiency, and flawed conclusions. I turn complex site data into clear, defensible insights that support causality arguments and clarify contaminant behavior. I create unique tools, models, and visualizations to aid data analysis, data synthesis, and for quantification. The unique tools supplement traditional methods, thereby illuminating complex relationships and strengthening conclusions.
TECHNICAL COMMUNICATION
Clear communication of complex technical concepts is at the heart of my work. I create impactful technical illustrations and animations that help convey investigation findings and conceptual site models to diverse stakeholders, including legal teams, regulatory agencies, and the public. I also offer technical education and training, including online courses and workshops focused on groundwater contamination, hydrogeology, and data visualization.
