Hydrogeologic reconnaissance was performed at 4 sites in the High Atlas Mountains and Middle Atlas Mountains in Morocco with the purpose of identifying locations for accessing groundwater for irrigation. The work was performed in collaboration with the High Atlas Foundation.
This January 31, 2024, webinar presents the methodologies and findings of hydrogeologic reconnaissance performed at 4 sites in the High Atlas Mountains and Middle Atlas Mountains in Morocco. Groundwater at each nursery has become scarce due to a persistent regional drought; wells have gone dry, springs are not providing enough water, and drilling new wells has not yielded water. This picture-rich presentation shows how integration of relatively basic observations and measurements, coupled with the use of commonly used and free software, can provide significant insight about hydrogeologic characteristics and provide the means to recommend actions needed to take to provide ample water to sustain growth of fruits at the nurseries. In addition, the webinar shows how the work and recommendations can be effectively communicated to stakeholders via an informal video recording.
