Served as the Technical Lead for numerous and large site investigation and remediation projects at a 1,400+acre chemical manufacturing plant, which included extensive soil and groundwater contamination by dense non-aqueous phase liquid (DNAPL). Multiple projects, including investigation planning and analysis of site-wide data to identify sources, nature and extent, fate and transport, and risks associated with soil, groundwater, surface water, and sediment contamination; In concert with client team, developed short- and long-term remediation strategies. Prepared investigation and remediation-related reports; and frequent meetings and presentations to the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP), USEPA, and the client’s Science Advisory Board.
Contaminants included analine, arsenic, PCE (tetrachloroethylene), TCE (trichloroethylene), dichloroethylene, (DCE), vinyl chloride, carbon tetrachloride, benzene, chloroform, 1,2 dichlorobenzene, trichlorobenzene, 1,1,1-trichloroethane (TCA), 1,1,2-trichloroethane, 1,1-dichloroethene, and 1,1-dichloroethane, methylene chloride, naphthalene, nitrobenzene, tetraethyl lead, tetramethyl lead, trimethylethyl lead, CFCs (Chlorofluorocarbons), Freon-11 (CFC-11, trichlorofluoromethane), Freon-12 (CFC-12, dichlorodifluoromethane), Freon-113 (CFC-113, 1,1,2-Trichloro-1,2,2-trifluoroethane),
“In my years of working with Andrew, he has proven to be a valuable and reliable team member. He has developed unique approaches for data analysis which have supported conclusions used in making strategic decisions. His work is always thorough and clearly presented, and his participation has enabled us to proceed with confidence on a wide range of technical projects.”
– Ed Lutz, Client Remediation Project Director
“… he impressed me with his ability to identify important details of contamination at the site, as well as build coherent conceptual models of groundwater and sediment contamination based on sound analysis and integration of multiple datasets. He was able to describe contaminant behavior at multiple scales, while at the same time focusing on the key issues and conveying the big picture. As Andrew continued to educate the Science Advisory Board at subsequent meetings, I was always impressed by his outstanding analytical and communication skills. He is sincere and very enjoyable to work with, and it is with overwhelming support that I recommend Andrew for developing sustainable approaches and solutions in the site remediation process.”
